The UK House of Lords voted on Wednesday to pass the relevant amendment, requiring HM Treasury to develop, publish and consult on a digital asset strategy within 12 months after the Financial Services and Markets Act enters into force. The strategy will cover cryptoassets, stablecoins, tokenised securities and digital financial infrastructure, addressing innovation, consumer protection and corporate access to banking, payment and settlement services. The UK Labour government previously opposed the amendment. The bill will return to the House of Commons for review, where MPs may accept, amend or reject the changes proposed by the House of Lords.
