On August 1 local time, US President Donald Trump posted on social media that he had agreed to cancel military strikes on Iran. Trump stated: “Iran and other Middle Eastern nations have just asked us to hold off on any attacks, as an agreement framework has been reached by both sides. This includes the immediate, full and complete opening of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the elimination of Iran’s nuclear threat.”
Trump added that on the basis of this request: “I have agreed to cancel the strikes on the premise that a formal deal can be reached quickly. Israel is working alongside me to deliver this outcome.”
