The U.S. SEC may roll out an “innovation exemption” framework for tokenized stocks as early as this week, permitting the trading of stock tokens pegged to share prices of listed companies. Reports indicate the SEC intends to allow third parties to issue such tokens without authorization from listed companies for trading on DeFi platforms. However, platforms may lose eligibility to list these tokens if they do not grant holders shareholder rights such as voting rights and dividends.
