Paul Atkins, Chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), stated that he plans to roll out an 'Innovation Exemption' rule by the end of this year, allowing cryptocurrency companies to quickly launch new products without having to comply with onerous regulatory requirements. Atkins further noted that the SEC is currently formulating new regulatory rules for crypto assets, has dismissed a number of crypto-related enforcement cases initiated during the tenure of former Chair Gary Gensler, and has established a special task force to explore new regulatory pathways. Meanwhile, he expressed the hope of boosting the number of initial public offerings (IPOs) in the United States.
